As part of the workshops I run with teachers we have a focus on mind mapping skills and software then we explore possible integration ideas for it in the classroom.

On my website I’ve made a page on mindmapping using a piece of software called CMap. The program is a free download and it is a powerful tool considering that it is freeware. It’s one limitation is that it doesn’t support picture files in a way that allows you to make a visual verbal mind map. As a work-around for this problem I teach people how to export their map as a graphic and insert it into Word. I then use the Microsoft Clip Gallery to download images to the mind map.

Recently I received an email from a student that I taught more years ago than I care to remember. The one thing she really felt the need to tell me was that of all her teachers I was the one who taught her to think. What a complement… mind you she also mentioned that I was rather ’special’ hehehehe

The email from Alana promted me to get busy and make this poster. It means that the next time a staff member is photocopying a heap of worksheets from a text book you can make sure that this poster is hanging close to the photocopier so they can reflect on their teaching while they wait for their worksheets to appear.

My website provides free teaching resources to the world e.g. printable reading games, maths games, suggestions on software to use with students and much, much more.

At the moment I want to use the blog to allow the users of my site to find out when I update content but I’m sure this will evolve as time goes on.
