WEbpage Backgrounds

Over the years I’ve amassed a number of really nice free webpage backgrounds and I’ve had them sitting in a really basic format on my webpage. Recently this site has been getting considerable traffic so I thought I’d tidy the site up and make it easier to navigate.

If you need a background image for a presentation, ‘pimping’ your Myspace page or a Web 1 project, feel free to browse my selection :)

Posted by Adrian on Jan-4-08
Science BookFor my first competition of the new year I’ll be giving away a copy of Glen Singleton’s ‘101 Cool Science Experiments’.

All you have to do is write a comment on any one of my blog posts. The comment has to be either insightful, humourous or tells a short story of success achieved by using one of the resources I’ve made or recommended :)

Looking forward to your comments and I’ll announce a winner at the end of January.

Educational ScreensaverI love using screensavers to
generate thought and wonder and there are some excellent screensavers out there.

A couple of days ago I discovered ‘Cities’. Cities is an animated Earth that lights
up the major cities of the world and displays the local time and population down the right hand side.

Cities is great for leaving on your laptop and then demonstrating wonder to the kids when
it kicks in ie ‘Gee, I wonder what’s in………….

?’ :) and then go off to find out.

Check out a few of the screensavers I use in my classrooms.

PS If you sign up for BOINC to look for ET you’ll have heaps of questions hehehehe

Fix that Firefox Download Pop Up

Posted by Adrian on Jan-2-08
As many of you know I love Firefox and the added browser functionality that many of its extensions give.

Alas, the default download dialogue box is a pain in the butt on soooooo many levels.

Today I discovered an extension that places the download box on the toolbar and it doesn’t need any extra click to close it etc

Just go - Tools / Add Ons / Get Extensions / & look for ‘Download St us Bar’/

firefox download

It’s a very nice extension for those who hate extra clicks.

Blogging Award The Teacher Toolbox recently picked up 3rd place in the Blogger’s Choice Awards for the ‘Best Educational Blog’ and I’m stoked :)

A big thanks goes out to all the people who took the time to cast a vote my way and I’m looking to continuing the blog in its new format throughout 2008.
