One of the great things about working in so many schools is that I get to meet some really talented teachers. Sometimes I can convince them to make their resources available to the world. Tonight’s reading comprehension resource comes from a particularly talented STLD (Support Teacher Learning Difficulties) who works tirelessly to bring the joy of reading to her students.
Thanks a heap sister!!!

I’ve just fixed an animation and added some new teaching notes on how to encourage children to rise above the mundane in their writing.
Hmmmmmm, Wordpress really doesn’t want to embed the flash animation. You’ll have to head off to the website to see it.

Here is my first
homophone poster. I’m rather pleased with the way the little alien dudes came out. Feel free to print out the A4 version for your classroom walls.

Today I finished off my collection of ‘Head’ questions relating to author’s intention and purpose.
Feel free to print them out and slip them into the pigeon holes of those who you think can use them.

Early on in creating my ‘word games’ I decided to supply a blank template so that when people made their own game based on my games they could email me their work & I could share their work with the world.
So thank you Shandra! – your contribution will be helping teachers & students all over the world almost instantly.
Download the word game here!

On my third day of University I was thrown in to a Kinder class and my supervisor said, ‘I’ll give you something easy to start with, find a book that the kids will enjoy and read it to them.’
Needless to say I had ‘NO IDEA!’… on SO many levels.
Now, after almost 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve tested out one or two books on children in my care and have bit more of an idea about what entertains children from 1 year old through to about 12. Check out what I’ve discovered over the years here.
