In Space Everyone Can Hear You Tweet

Phoenix Lander

Advances in technologies mean that it is so easy to infuse almost real time science into your classroom. I firmly believe that you can do all sorts of stuff for children’s attitude development towards Science by having lots of little ‘tit bits’ happening.

Currently I receive Tweets from two sources off world. One source of messages is from The Phoenix Lander which is the current Mars Mission. I also receive messages from the Cassini probe which orbits Saturn. These messages tell of up coming events, finding and links to some of the most current images.

Check out the the Martian sunrise for yourself http://twitter.com/MarsPhoenix and the icey jet eruptions on the moon Enceladus http://twitter.com/CassiniSaturn.

NASA TV Widget & the Phoenix Mars Lander

NASATV Widget

Congratulations to the Phoenix Mars Lander team on a job well done! :)

This morning while working on the laptop I installed a NASATV widget to the Vista toolbar. This enabled me to continue working while watching the landing… yes some guys can multitask. hehehe

The other widget I use is from the WorldTimeServer. I have 4 clocks visible that automatically set themselves to the timezone of my choosing. I find it nice to know the home time when my Yodas are Twittering.

You can find all sorts of useful (& useless) tools for your Vista Toolbar at this Microsoft Site

Feel free to download a few and see if they are of any use to you.

cheers

Adrian

PS and thanks to Dr Jim for this choice first picture of the landing. lol
