Tonight I’ve added the ‘Quadrillions family’ to my collection of place value charts. I now have downloads from Units through to Quadrillions. These charts are designed to be displayed on your walls at eye level for your students so they can read the interesting facts associated with just how BIG these numbers are.

If you laminate these charts you can write on them in non-permanent marker and invite the students to attempt to read these MASSIVE numbers. It is really easy once they get the patterns and you’ll be surprised at how many children ‘rise’ to the challenge.

Now I know there are critics out there that claim that students can’t comprehend these numbers, but hey… these numbers are so damn big I challenge anyone to truely comprehend them. These charts are more about positive attitude formation, awe & wonder and systems than rote learning.

Print these posters out and put them on your walls and see which children are drawn to them. You might be surprised which kids read the numbers to their friends as they head out for lunch.
